Move Mindfully Monday: Pay Yourself a Compliment
I like starting my groups with the question:
“Tell me something great about yourself”
People squirm, stutter, and generally reply “That’s hard. I don’t know.”
Try it. I double dog dare you to come up with a list of three GREAT qualities about yourself.
We’re human, and as humans we like to be hard on ourselves. Many of us find it easier to receive criticism than compliments. We tend to hold onto shame and guilt for longer than it actually serves us.
In the practice of mindfulness, we notice our mistakes, but we have equal opportunity to notice our greatness.
This week, practice noticing something that you do right each day and either say it out loud or write it down. Let’s begin to replace our thoughts of weakness with thoughts of strength.
